According to Khoo, the customisation options available with the Howo-TX series deliver significant advantages for industries where trucks are pushed to their limits every day. In construction, for instance, the choice of 6x4 or 8x4 axle configurations combined with leaf spring suspension and MCP16 planetary wheel reduction axles enables the trucks to carry heavy payloads of up to 50,000 kg gross vehicle weight (GVW). For mining and quarrying, reinforced tipper bodies paired with the high-torque MC11.44-50 engine (440 hp, 324 kW at 1,900 rpm) provide the strength to tackle gradients of up to 30 percent with ease. Meanwhile, logistics operators benefit from long-haul efficiency and driver comfort, supported by the HW25712XST 12-speed full synchroniser gearbox and ergonomic TX cabins.

“The most common requests we receive centre on cabin upgrades and axle configurations,” Khoo explained. “For example, many long-haul operators choose sleeper cabs such as the TX-F or TX-U high roof for added comfort. These cabins are equipped with a 525 mm or 749 mm-wide sleeper berth, pneumatic shock-absorbing seats with nine adjustment points, and electronically controlled air-conditioning. Axle configurations are equally important, ranging from 6x4 prime movers for heavy haulage of up to 80,000 kg gross combination weight to 8x4 rigid chassis for bulk transport. These can be fitted with MCP16ZG rear axles, offered with a standard 4.2 ratio or an optional 4.77 for higher torque in challenging terrain.”

Customisation Built into Manufacturing

SMHE, he said, begins every customisation process with an in-depth consultation to understand each client’s load requirements, operating terrain, and regulatory obligations. Using these insights, the team selects the most suitable Howo-TX chassis configuration — for instance, an 8x4 rigid chassis paired with MCP16ZG rear axles and a 4.77 ratio to deliver the extra torque needed for demanding quarry work. Once the specifications are finalised, SMHE’s engineering team collaborates closely with suppliers to integrate modifications such as custom body builds, specialised drivetrain setups, or optional power take-off (PTO) systems.

Every customised truck then undergoes rigorous brake testing, performance evaluation, and compliance checks with both ECE R29 cab safety standards and Road Transport Department (JPJ) regulations. To further meet Malaysia’s latest road safety requirements, each Howo-TX truck is equipped with a built-in speed limiter device (SLD), with SMHE recognised as one of JPJ’s approved SLD verification workshops.

What sets SMHE apart from many other commercial vehicle suppliers, Khoo explained, is that the company integrates customisation directly into the manufacturing process rather than making modifications after the truck is built.

“This approach ensures the chassis, suspension, and drivetrain remain perfectly balanced with the bodywork,” he said. “Take our 14 cu.m tipper body as an example — measuring 7,900 x 2,500 x 762 mm and built with H850 material, it is paired with a front Hyva tipping cylinder for dependable operation. By carefully matching body size to payload density and reinforcing it with high-strength steel and reliable hydraulics, we deliver Howo-TX trucks that are durable, safe, and precisely optimised for each client’s working environment.”

Khoo also shared a recent success story. “One logistics operator previously relied on Euro 2 prime movers with 366 hp engines, which struggled on steep routes and left drivers dissatisfied due to seat discomfort during long journeys. To overcome these challenges, we supplied a 6x4 Howo-TX Euro V prime mover equipped with the MC11 engine delivering 440 horsepower and 2,100 Nm of torque, paired with the HW25712XST 12-speed gearbox. The result was significantly stronger uphill performance, improved fuel efficiency, and a major upgrade in driver comfort. The TX-F sleeper cab, fitted with pneumatic suspension seats, reduced fatigue on long hauls and boosted overall driver satisfaction.”

Warranty and After-Sales Assurance

To address concerns from customers with customised trucks, Khoo noted that SMHE offers a straightforward warranty policy that applies equally to both standard and customised Howo-TX models. For prime movers, all components are covered for two years, giving operators confidence in long-haul performance. For tippers, mixers, and chassis cabs, the warranty covers all parts for one year, while critical components such as the engine, gearbox, and axles are covered for two years.

“Because all customisation is carried out according to Sinotruk’s engineering standards and with genuine parts, customers can rest assured that their warranty remains fully intact. This gives them peace of mind, knowing that every Howo-TX, whether standard or customised, delivers long-term reliability,” he emphasised.

After-sales service, Khoo highlighted, is central to SMHE’s value proposition, particularly for customised units. To support customers across Peninsular Malaysia, SMHE has established workshops in Klang Valley, Ipoh, and Johor. “Beyond scheduled maintenance, our service teams are trained and equipped to respond to breakdowns on-site, helping customers minimise downtime and return to operations quickly. As the official Sinotruk distributor, we exclusively supply and install genuine parts, maintaining factory standards in every repair. Our close collaboration with Sinotruk ensures a reliable flow of spare parts and technical expertise, while our trained technicians understand both standard and modified systems. This combination ensures that every customised Howo-TX is fully supported throughout its lifecycle, protecting our customers’ investment and ensuring long-term reliability,” he concluded.

从生产线开始定制化

他表示，SMHE的每一个定制化流程都会从深入咨询开始，以充分了解每位客户的载重要求、作业地形以及法规要求。该公司的团队会根据这些信息，选择最合适的豪沃TX底盘配置，比方说8x4整体式底盘搭配MCP16ZG后轴，4.77速比，以提供采石场作业所需的额外扭矩。在确定规格后，SMHE的工程团队会与供应商紧密合作，整合各种改装方案，如定制车身、专用传动系统配置或可选配的动力输出（PTO）系统。

之后，每辆定制卡车都会经过严格的制动测试、性能评估，以及符合ECE R29驾驶室安全标准和陆路交通局（JPJ）规定的合规性检查。为了进一步满足马来西亚最新的道路安全要求，每辆豪沃TX卡车均配备了内置限速装置（SLD），更值得一提的是，SMHE是JPJ认可的SLD检测工厂之一。

Khoo解释说，SMHE与许多其他商用车供应商的不同之处在于，该公司将定制直接融入到制造过程中，而不是在卡车制造完成后才进行改装。

Khoo还提到了一个近期的成功案例：“一家物流运营商之前使用的是搭载366马力引擎的欧2牵引车，这些牵引车在陡峭的路段行驶时表现不佳，而且由于座椅不舒服，驾驶员在长途驾驶时普遍不满意。为了克服这些挑战，我们提供了一辆6x4豪沃TX欧5牵引车，该牵引车搭载MC11引擎，输出440马力和2,100牛米的扭矩，并搭配HW25712XST 12速变速箱。结果显而易见，车辆的爬坡性能大幅提升，燃油效率得到改善，驾驶舒适度也大为提升。配备气动悬浮座椅的TX-F卧铺驾驶室，有效减轻了长途驾驶的疲劳，提升了驾驶员的整体满意度。

保修和售后保障

为了解决定制卡车客户的顾虑，Khoo指出，SMHE提供简单易懂的保修政策，适用于标准和定制版豪沃TX车型。对于牵引车，所有部件均享有两年保修，让操作员对长途运输性能充满信心。在自卸车、搅拌车和底盘驾驶室方面，所有部件的保修期为一年，而引擎、变速箱和车轴等关键部件则享有两年的保修。

他说：“由于所有定制均按照中国重汽的工程标准进行，并使用原厂部件，因此客户完全无需担心他们的保修期权益会受到影响。这让他们安心无忧，因为他们知道每辆豪沃TX，无论是标准版还是定制版，都具有长期的可靠性。”

Khoo强调，售后服务是SMHE价值主张的核心，尤其对于定制卡车而言。为了支持马来西亚半岛的客户，SMHE在巴生谷、怡保和柔佛设立了维修厂。他总结说：“除了定期维护外，我们的服务团队都经过培训，配备齐全，能够到客户的现场处理突发故障，帮助客户最大限度地减少停机时间，快速恢复运营。作为中国重汽的官方经销商，我们独家供应并安装原厂配件，确保每一次的维修都保持原厂标准。我们与中国重汽的密切合作，也保证了备件和技术专业知识的可靠供应，而且我们训练有素的技术人员了解标准和改装系统。这样的结合，确保每台定制的豪沃TX在其整个生命周期内都能得到全面支持，保护客户的投资并确保长期可靠性。”
